About
Orchid Orchestra is a Vancouver-based indie pop band creating lush choral harmonies, shimmering synths, and cinematic electronic textures that balance emotional depth with kinetic energy. Fronted by therapist and songwriter Rupert Hudson, the band blends heartfelt songwriting with themes of vulnerability, self-acceptance, and connection. Orchid Orchestra has received praise from outlets including the Vancouver Sun, and has performed at popular local venues such as the Biltmore Cabaret and Anza Club, alongside sold-out regional tours. Hudson is also a vocal advocate for mental health in the music industry, himself an ex-artist manager in New York City's fast-paced industry. He has spoken on panels at BreakOut West on accommodating neurodivergent artists and substance use, and did a keynote at Manitoba Music’s SWMM conference in January 2026 and a presentation for Music BC's SoMa Fest in March 2026.
The band’s newest songs explore a more electronic-pop sound than their earlier material, crafted collaboratively with producer Anthony Cenerini. While adventurous in texture, each song retains the human warmth that Orchid Orchestra is known for, inviting listeners into intimate, emotionally resonant spaces. The music is built to connect; capturing the honest, playful, and vulnerable energy that defines the band’s creative spirit.
Following their second EP Be Lucky, Orchid Orchestra just released their first full-length album in June 2026. Through immersive performances and a cinematic, forward-looking sound, the band creates moments of shared connection and invites listeners into a world of openness, care, and collective joy.
